United Imaging Emphasizes Differentiated Technology at ISMRM 2025

Among the highlights were a completely unique whole-body 8 ch-parallel transmit coil on the 5T uMR® Jupiter, and an FDA pending- 3T MRI that provides visualization of the body in motion.

HOUSTON, May 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — United Imaging, a global manufacturer of modern medical imaging technology, was again prominent on the exhibit floor at the ISMRM Annual Scientific Meeting in Honolulu.

Last year the company made waves with the 5T whole-body ultra-high-field uMR Jupiter, with its clinical and research applications. This year, United Imaging featured the industry’s first and only whole-body 8-ch parallel transmit coil. What differentiates the system is its ability to provide uniform B1 field Ultra-High-Field imaging, independent control of Tx architecture, fully automatic and fast calibration, and optimization for specific body parts.

United Imaging also featured a product that debuted at RSNA in December and is FDA pending: the uMR® Ultra. The uMR Ultra, is an advanced 3T MRI system that has the capability to observe and analyze body movement within the scan. This system provides visualizations of the body in motion with detailed visualizations. It also integrates industry-leading specifications such as a high-gradient performance of 100 mT/m at 200 T/m/s, 192 receive channels, and up to 96-channel coil capabilities. Its advanced imaging technology effectively addresses the challenges of capturing movement, expanding the system’s clinical applications.

Building on this foundation, the uAIFI.LIVE platform within uMR Ultra represents a dynamic imaging innovation specifically tailored for motion visualization. It leverages the AI capabilities of uAIFI — already established as the foundation of United Imaging’s MRI systems — and incorporates specialized hardware features. This integration enables the transition of MRI from static “photography” to dynamic “videography.”

Troy Lewein, the Vice President of MRI in the U.S., emphasized that “every uMR system in our portfolio offers impeccable skin-to-skin fat saturation, high-resolution imaging, and a comprehensive suite of diagnostic tools as a standard. Patients can experience a comfortable environment, conversation-level scan noise, and fast scan times that can approach that of CT.”

Jeffrey M. Bundy, Ph.D., CEO of United Imaging Healthcare North America, added that the company overall has continued to innovate and expand each of its seven years of commercial U.S. operations, in all modalities. “We just tripled our production space in Houston, and have continued to invest in FDA submissions and patent protections, in MRI as well as in our other product lines. We’re excited to show something new and unique every year at ISMRM. We know that we are building a reputation as a leader in innovation, and what we focus on is bringing industry firsts that make a difference for patients and that define industry norms for the future.”
